Over 40 cyclists from several bicycle groups across the capital went for a 45-kilometre ride to Pithoria to commemorate the first United Nations World Bicycle Day
on Sunday. The ride was aimed at spreading awareness about the benefits of cycling and to promote it as a recreational activity among youngsters. The event, ‘Ride-A-Cycle’, kicked off from Kanke at
6 am and the riders explored the natural beauty of the route to Pithoria.
“Bicycling needs to be promoted as a popular recreational activity. The first UN World Bicycle Day was a great international initiative to bring back cycle riding in vogue,” said
Vinay Bibhakar, member of the Ranchi Bicycle Association.
