Raipurians match steps with dhak beats at dhunuchi naach contest

It is not just Dandiya and Garba fever that drives the revellers during Durga Utsav, Raipurians enjoyed the quintessential folk frenzy of

dhunuchi naach

towards the end of the festivities.

A lot of pandals organised events on the same. What adds to the mystique of this folk ritual is the way the dancers carry a mixture of coconut husk and dhoop powder ignited in a specially crafted earthen pot in their hands.

Though it is a bit risky, but many people try and overpower all the fears through this performance. Dhunuchi naach contest is not restricted to Bengali community. Members from all communities participate with festive spirit.
