Students’ workshop for martial arts and theatre
Acting enthusiasts, who have enrolled themselves in a 40-day workshop at Premchand Rangashala, are learning something new every day. Recently, they were taken to Bazaar Samiti for jogging, where they also performed certain yoga exercises including sarwangasan and mayurasan.
Participants are also learning music from musician Rohit Chandra. For those who are interested in martial arts can learn from the experts who have been invited all the way from Imphal. Suraj Kumar, a college student, said, “This acting workshop is very useful for all of us. In the past 12 days, we have learnt much beyond than acting including yoga, martial arts, language fluency and personality development. In the next 28 days, we are hoping to learn more about developing our communication skills among other things.”
Sharing similar views, Sunita Kumari, another college student, said, “We got to interact with many important personalities from theatre as well as from other fields. I am happy I enrolled here as this workshop is very effective and engaging. Theatre artiste Sameer Chandra engaged us in theatre games yesterday, where we learnt how to imitate animals.”
Students are also showing interest in learning regional songs for their plays. Sugandha Agrawal, a student, said, “By now, we have learnt many regional songs for two plays, Bidesia and Hasinabad. It is very interesting to learn such music. It’s a great learning experience for all of us. I have also learnt the basics of martial arts, tai chi and thang-ta. Our martial art mentors have promised to teach us more about it and I am really looking forward to it.”
