The star night at Encore ’11 – the cultural fest organized by Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) – was to see a performance by the musical group Band Of Boys.
But the show began with the students themselves singing songs like “Inteha Ho Gayi Intezaar Ki”, “Ek Baar Aaja Aaja” and “Doori Sahi Jaye Na”. And that was because the band was unfashionably late, and the students were left with no choice but to entertain each other thus.

When the band members finally arrived, there was the tedious process of sound check to be completed. But why did they even bother to go through that exercise when they were only going to lip sync the songs? Although it was supposed to be a live performance, the members started off by lip syncing to their famous song “Meri Neend Udd Gayi Hai”, much to the disappointment of everyone. The agitated students resorted to shouting slogans like “1-2-3-4, band karo yeh atyachar”.
Finally, band member Karan Oberoi rescued the situation by singing a Holi song “Rang Barse”. Karan soon stepped down from the stage and mingled with the students to get the situation under control. And since the students were there to have a good time, they didn’t take too long to warm up to the band. From then on, it was turned out to be a rocking night!
