Veteran theatre artist Mallika Sarabhai and her troop Darpana lit up Ravindra Manch with their scintillating performances. The theatrical dance performance celebrated the historic journey of the Parsis titled And They Came To India. The show unfolded the journey of Parsis from before the birth of Zarathustra and their myths, the birth of Zoroastrianism and their final flight to India.
The re-enacting of mythological, historical and contemporary figures had a mesmerising effect on the audience.
The history of Parsis is very dramatic and eventful. As a community, they have stuck to their promise of adding sweetness to the lives of people without being a burden. India is richer today due to the contributions of this small community, said Mallika Sarabhai.
The recital was a part of a serial performance enacted all over the country. The day also witnessed stalwarts like Grammy award winner Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt who was seen enjoying and appreciating the efforts put in by Darpana.
