In an endeavour to create a cleaner, greener and healthier India, Mithibai College organised a programme called Swachhagraha on Monday. As part of its intercollegiate fest, Kshitij, the college organised a conference to celebrate ‘World Toilet Day’ at the Mukesh Patel Auditorium.
Called ‘Swachh Bharat Sach Hoga’, the conference redefined the narrative of cleanliness beyond toilets.

The occasion was graced by MLA Raju Gouda, Dr. Subramanya Kusnur and TV anchor Sahil Khattar, where they spoke about the need of awareness among today’s youth about sanitation and toilets. This was followed by the audience asking questions about clean India. Said Sahil, “You can guide a person on the way of Swachhta, but he’ll have to use his legs to walk on it. We need to understand that it’s us who play a major role in taking this movement ahead.”

This was followed by a round table discussion on ‘Swachh and Youth’ and the social responsibility that comes with it. The highlight of the event was the launch of India’s first Swachh toilet; what differentiates this one from the other alternatives is the iOT and real-time visibility of all key data elements to all the stakeholders in the supply chain. To add to this, all the data will be stored on a blockchain platform making this one of the first CSR products to be on a platform like this. Another innovation, called Swachh AquaTM, too, was launched at the event. It is a combination of iOT-enabled water ATM using green technology and micro cash ATM enabling dispensation of clean water along with financial inclusion.
Towards the end of the event, the fest’s organising committee took the ‘Swachh Pledge’, and pledged to make their dreams of a cleaner environment come true.
