John Abraham was recently spotted raising funds for the cause of an animal rights organisation.

(TOI Photo)John Abraham would do very well in an auction house — the actor was at his auctioning best on Friday night as he went around and cajoled guests to loosen their purse strings to help raise funds for the cause of an animal rights organisation that was celebrating its eighth anniversary at the ITC Hotel, The Maratha.
Helping him, to a certain extent, was Raveena Tandon, who made a social appearance after a long time. But if it’s for the cause of animals, she’ll be there!
Host Anuradha Sawhney was pleased as punch at the turnout as was Ingrid Newkirk, founder of the animal-friendly organisation. Along with the hosts, guests were welcomed by lifesize stuffed animals, who Tisca Chopra, Soni Razdan and Kalpana Lajmi immediately fell in love with. The night began with a delightful dance performance by Ahana Deol, followed by Sandip Soparrkar and Jesse Randhawa who demonstrated in their fluid movements how an animal is lured and then killed. Watching it all were Anju Mahendru, Hemant Trevedi sporting funky streaked trousers, Anita Dongre, Lascelles Symons wearing his usual tight tee, Anu Malik, Mohinder Amarnath who seemed lost as he entered the pre-function area, model sisters Shamita and Mashoom Singha, Rij Eappen and Arshiya Fakih, Suketu Parikh who gifted one of his paintings, Manav Gangwani who also contributed to the cause and a sprinkling of TV stars including Urvashi Dholakia, Rupali Ganguly, Gaurav Chopraa and Narayani Shastri.
Nina Lekhi of Baggit, the leading brand in no-leather bags and accessories won an award for not killing animals for fashion. “Fashion can be created without being cruel to animals. Though fashion is all about style, Baggit is changing the way fashion is being sold! They are selling on intent, purpose and values,” said Nina.
WEIGHT AND WATCH: Not that she was ever on the plumper side, but Yana Gupta has lost bundles of more weight. Seen after a long time, she sported a cleavage-revealing gown and a funky short haircut.
