Known for his foot-tapping tracks in Punjabi,
Gippy Grewal, of 'Angreji Beat' fame, is making a mark for himself as an actor in Bollywood too. The Punjabi actor, singer-songwriter and film director, who was in town to promote his upcoming Hindi film Lucknow Central says he loved shooting for it in Lucknow. "It is a very wonderful city, though due to the busy shooting schedule I could not explore much of Lucknow. But I have heard a lot about it from my co-actors. Maine suna hai ki yahan ki revdi aur kebabs bahut mashoor hain, toh Inaamul (Haq) ne kaha hai ki main dilwa dunga. Woh mujhe wapas
Punjab lekar jaana hai kyunki wahan bhi gud ki revdi bahut famous hai," said Gippy, who later feasted on the kebabs and biryani.
Gippy, who has a huge fan following in Punjab, is excited about his first Bollywood release. Having directed and acted in several Punjabi hit films, Gippy says that there’s not much difference in the functioning of the two industries. "Punjabi cinema has grown over the years and Punjabi films are doing great business, especially overseas. I have been getting quite a number of Hindi film offers nowadays but I have been choosy about which one to accept. But when Lucknow Central was offered to me, I found it interesting. The cast was good, the story was strong and the last thing that was assuring for me was the character I am playing is a Punjabi character who is a singer also. Iss film ko dekhkar mere fans ko lagega ki yeh mera Gippy hai."
