Shaam-e-ghazal for the queen of ghazals Begum Akhtar

To remember the legacy of Begum Akhtar, on her 109th birth anniversary, students of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vidyalaya organized an event titled, Yad-e-Begum-Akhtar at Kala Mandapam auditorium.

The melodious evening commenced with an opening act by the students of the university, Naman Singh and Anjali Patel performing the famous song by Akhtar, Mere Humnafas Mere Humnava. Followed by the star of the show, famous Marathi singer, Sangeeta Nerukar, who travelled from Pune. Sangeeta caught everyone’s keen attention with her mellifluous voice and skilful representation of her life journey through shayrs, anecdotes and ghazals. Malini Awasthi, present in the audience, shared, “Lucknow is synonymous with Begum Akhtar’s name. I am glad Bhatkhande took this initiative to celebrate the icon in the industry who mastered the universe of music like nobody else.”
