People from different walks of life gathered at a city club on Sunday evening to pay tribute to journalist Vinod Mehta, who passed away a few days back. The evening saw Ram Advani, Chander Prakash, Justice Vishnu Sahai, Dr SM Zaheer, Jayant Krishna and Kanak Rekha Chauhan sharing some fond memories of the time spent with Mehta. “Not many know that he was a fine tennis player.
Vinod lived a bold, controversial but a relevant life,” said Jayant. Ram Advani, who knew Mehta for a long time, said, “We first came in touch when he was looking for a publisher for his book.”
Chander Prakash’s speech left everyone teary-eyed, when he said, “We have truly lost a Lucknow boy.” The evening was then given a musical touch by Justice Vishnu Sahai, who sang
'Man Re Tu Kahe Na Dheer Dhare..', which was Mehta’s favourite.
