Be proud of your own Bengali entertainment industry : Prosenjit Chatterjee

In a recent panel discussion at the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival, personalities from the Bengali film industry, including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Abir Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Jeetu Kamal, and Raj Chakraborty, gathered to explore the current preferences of today's audience. The discussion delved into whether audiences lean towards fictional, larger-than-life films or are more inclined towards movies inspired by real-life events.

Discussing the evolving mindset of the new generation audience, Prosenjit remarked, "The language of cinema is changing, and directors are taking this as a challenge. The next generation actors and directors are doing excellent work in the Bengali film industry. There are so many new talents emerging every day."

The actor also reflected on his diverse career, acting in larger-than-life commercial movies and critically acclaimed real-life films. Spoke about the uncertainty of the box office, stating, "We work on an uncertain platform. We always strive to give our best, but it's the audience who decides everything."

Expressing his admiration for the marvellous work happening in the Tollywood industry, Prosenjit highlights the importance of appreciation needed from the younger generation. He said, "I have one plea to the Bengali audience today, be proud of your own entertainment industry. Our movies and songs are remarkable. It's my earnest request on behalf of the Tollywood industry, to just be proud of us."
