Road Safety Week observed in Kolhapur

Week is organised every year in the month of January by the Ministry of

Road

Transport and Highways between January 11 and January 17. A variety of programmes related to road safety is organised in several cities to enlighten people on road safety, driving rules and cautions. During the whole week-long celebration of this campaign, a variety of educational banners, safety posters, safety films, pocket guides and leaflets related to road safety are distributed to the on-road travelers.

(RTO) and the police department have been observing the 31st Road Safety Week. Several programmes including rallies, camps and

awareness

drives, workshops, social media campaigns and road safety progammes have been organised across schools and colleges along with campaigns to raise awareness among pepeople and students about road safety. This year, however, they are celebrating it in a unique way - they are felicitating the rule violators, signal jumpers and other defaulters found during the Road Saftey Week by giving them a rose and requesting them not to commit such offense. A senior RTO offical said that people, especially the youngsters need to be educated about following traffic rules and safe driving.
