A visual feast, which had artists moving to vibrant beats with moves that reminded one of kalarippayattu and similar martial arts, had them wearing attires similar to those of chekavars and archas from the yesteryear ‘naadan pattukal.’ Both men and women on the stage moved with gusto, holding their swords and shields.

The seven-day art fest began at Durbar Hall ground a few days ago with a theyyam performance by K M Srinivasan and team. On the first day, Durbar Hall had also seen the staging of padayani, by Devi Vilasam Kalalayam and kalamezhuthum pulluvan pattum by Sree Nagaraja Kalavedi.

In the upcoming days, there will be the performance of many other art forms like paakkanar kolam , aadivedan, kuthiyottam, poorakali, kalamezhuthum pattum, thirayattam, nadanpattun, ninabali, ambalapuzha velakali, margamkali, nangyarkoothu, chavittunadakam, kalarippayattu, ottan thullal, parayan thullal, kolkali, nadanpattu.
