Youthopia, 07, the biggest college-fest in the city, got off to a rollicking start at the Nizam college grounds yesterday. The day saw 20 colleges in the city shake a leg for the choreography competition, followed by the debate competition and then the eagerly awaited The War of the DJs.
1x1 polls

The dance team Rock Rebels from Aurora College bagged the first prize with their performance to the theme ‘parody of western numbers.’ T Nitesh Singh, a member of the team, shared, We finally got what we wanted.
The team Fusion Masti of Loyola Academy took the second prize, and Retro 70s of Kasturba Gandhi College came a close third. The voting for the competition was interesting, with the audience sending in SMSes for their favourite teams.
The debate competition was indeed a battle of brains. Rituraj Sapkota from Loyola Academy, who got the first prize says, It was a tough competition but I did expect to win.
The main event of the evening, however, was The War of DJs. As the participants belted out tracks, the exuberant audience danced even in the rain. Participants were judged based on light mixing, choosing tracks, body language and audience involvement.
The judges were DJ Amit Saxsena and DJ Kanna. Among the four contestants, Udgata Anagh from Gowtham Junior College was declared the winner. I am happy to win the contest but more than that it’s the crowd’s response that was thrilling, shared Udgata.
