If there is one Bollywood musician who is known for her powerful vocals and eclectic sense of style it’s
Sona Mohapatra. And this lady sure didn’t disappoint on the Day 2 of Times Festival 2015 at Rock Heights. The crowd loved her and she didn’t want to keep herself away from them either. She had no qualms pushing her way into the crowd, obliging her fans with as many selfies as they wanted and admitting, “I am a selfie queen, come take as many selfies you want.” Sona started the performance with the song that made her famous — Ishq Nachaya.
Sona, who has spent her college years here said, “Hyderabad is where I studied this place sure feels like second home.” As the tempo went up, Sona requested for permission to “get comfortable” since this is her homeground and started taking off her cumbersome accessories and tied up her hair before she started her gig again . She went on to sing some of her biggest hits including Paas Aao, Jugni, Main Toh Piya Se and more. The audience enjoyed her renditions of old melodies like Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo, Abhi Na Jaao Choor Kar and Kuhu Kuhu Bole Payaliya as much as they liked her peppy numbers like Ambarsariya, Bedardi Raja, Ishq Karenge Sona didn’t just keep her line-up to Bollywood tracks and also included Rangabati, a cult song from Odisha and the audience was happy that they got to listen to something different. Sona ended her musical treat with an energetic rendition of Duma Dam Mast Kalandar which the audience enjoyed to the hilt.
