A melange of dance and music to celebrate the girl child

To celebrate the occasion of the International day of the girl child, Face of Artz and SaiNe Nrityalaya had organised an event recently at Shilparamam. The evening started with a Carnatic vocal recital by Rajinimai Chakilam who sang various bhajans and keertanas.

This was followed by a

Kuchipudi

performance by Vijay Anand who performed the Ashtalakshmi and

Mahishasura

Mardidni with utmost grace. The audience was then enthralled with a soulful rendition of a song based on the girl child, by Swetha. Then, a dance drama ‘Adri – as hard as rock’ was staged, which left the audience awestruck.

The drama revolved around the relationship between a mother and her daughter, and how the mother moulds her girl to be independent and also gets her trained in

Kalaripayattu

for self-defense.

The role of the mother was donned by Neha Singh. Other participants were Jevanthika, Ishita, Nandini, Roshini,

Harshini

, Tejaswini Kilari, Maunika, Punita, Varshita, Naina and Nyra. Dr. Neelima Arya and Priyanka Bharde graced the event as the chief guests for the evening.
