Dozens of off-roaders descended upon Gurgaon's Off Road Adventure Zone over the weekend. The occasion was

the Off Road Challenge

, the largest off-roading event held in

NCR

post-COVID. The eight-stage event was held partly in Gurgaon and partly in the sand dunes of Nuh. On Day One i.e. Saturday, two stages were held at the Off Road Adventure Zone along the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road, while the remaining six stages were fought out in the sand dunes of Nuh all day on Sunday.

The event saw close to 50 participants in various kinds of vehicles from across the country, some driving from as far as Srinagar and Punjab to participate in the event. Harazeez Singh Brar, who came from Chandigarh to participate in the event, told us, "We working people get one or two days a week where we can unwind, and off-roading is that stress-buster for us. During the lockdown, we missed this as it all came to a halt. So now, we are willing to cross cities if we get a good opportunity to get together with people and have fun, but of course in a safe manner."

The event had participants coming from as far as Punjab and Srinagar

The organisers maintained that all safety measures were in place. Apart from mandatory masks and sanitisation of vehicles, the event was open only to drivers and not navigators, in order to reduce the total number of people present and make social distancing as effective as possible. Vikramjeet Sharma, the organiser, said, "The motive of this event is to revive off-roading and get the off-roading community together."
