Goan musician Varun Carvalho released his new song, India Needs Oxygen, along with the Oxygen For Goa Mission, where free oxygen will be delivered to those in need. The English song sheds light on the grim reality in India, especially Goa, where many people are loosing their lives due to shortage of oxygen in hospitals treating those with COVID.
"There is a massive shortage of medical oxygen as India is being ravaged by the second wave of Corona.
With my song, India Needs Oxygen, I hoped to create awareness on the need for people across the world to help India in these difficult times. Hearing the call, my friends from India and across the world have helped to set up Oxygen For Goa, wherein medical grade oxygen will be given free to those in need across Goa. Oxygen For Goa will provide oxygen concentrators, oxygen flow meters and cylinders to people in need of oxygen," he says.
Oxygen for Goa has decided to work with Covid Care Centres across Goa and also with doctors working in rural Goa so that oxygen can reach even the remotest parts of Goa. There will be a 24-hour helpline, wherein volunteers from the RiseNation team will attend to emergency calls for oxygen. Varun, being a doctor himself firmly believes that every person should have the right to oxygen and no one should die because of lack of oxygen. Music definitely has the power to touch every human and unite people across nations to come together in one vibration to save their fellow humans. Last year, in the first wave of coronavirus, Varun's song, Let's Fight The Corona, inspired people to rise up and Varun together with the community started the Risenation Community Kitchen that fed thousands of homeless people everyday during the lockdown.
