Look who was at MOG!

The landmark Museum of Goa (

MOG

) had a VIP visitor last Friday, as US Ambassador Kenneth Juster dropped by with US Consul General Edgard D Kagan and Vice Consul for Political Affairs Robert Poulson Houser.
The Ambassador took a tour of the entire museum and appreciated how the history of Goa had been narrated through contemporary art. He looked at every work with great interest and was fascinated to know how much waste materials like tyres, shells, plastic bottles and old wood could be effectively used to create such massive art works.
He particularly admired the ‘Reclaiming Gandhi’ exhibition that displayed works of various artists and emphasised the need to celebrate 150 years of the Mahatma.
“We were very excited when we first got a call from the US Consulate General in Mumbai and were honoured to host the Ambassador and his team,” said Sharada Kerkar, manager of MOG. “I am overwhelmed and will definitely come back to see this space again!” added the Consul General.
Before leaving, the Ambassador presented a token of appreciation to the MOG team on behalf of the US and also carried back with him a Goan landscape print by late artist Chandrakant Kerkar.
