Goa’s summer mood is sweet, chilled and refreshing

Goa’s summer is in full swing, and as the temperatures rise, so does the craving for refreshing coolers and thirst quenchers. From fresh fruit juices and chilled coolers to traditional kokum sharbat and refreshing buttermilk, there’s something to suit every taste. Add to that creamy ice creams, freshly pressed sugarcane juice, nostalgic ice golas by the beachside and the state offers plenty of ways to beat the heat.

At a bustling stall in Mapusa, Amar Naik is watching the summer rush pour in by the minute. “Summer is our busiest season. Everyone’s hunting for something cold, tasty and filling. The Tender Coconut and Muskmelon Overloads disappear almost as quickly as we make them,” he laughs. For college student Manisha VS, the appeal goes beyond just beating the heat. “We’d pick shakes over soft drinks any day. It feels healthier, and honestly, it’s become our favourite excuse to hang out,” she says with a smile.
