Awareness talk on World Alzheimer's day

's day on September 21. To create awareness about this, a talk was organised for all the students of the social work department. The speaker Anita Jervis, founded the Charles Jervis Memorial Trust, six years after she lost her beloved husband due to Alzheimer's. With first-hand experience as a care giver, she delivered an extensive session on

Dementia

, she also gave the students situations to address on how a care giver should respond to the needs of an elderly living with dementia.

Alzheimer's disease is a neurological disorder in which the death of brain cells causes memory loss and cognitive decline. A neurodegenerative type of dementia, the disease starts mild and gets progressively worse. It has been reported that there are more than 4000+ people in Goa who have been diagnosed with Dementia.
