2016 was inspired by the structures and architecture of Persia. Intricate badla work, hand embroidery and a mix of sheer fabrics and velvet dominated. Lehengas, brocade jackets paired with cigarette trousers and sherwanis with layered tunics and kurtas for men were part of his

couture

collection. The designer did away with the dupatta – instead, most lehengas were designed with a trail, almost like a gown. One of the traditional colours for the Indian bride, maroon, was the dominant shade in the collection, with some emerald green and other muted shades for variety.
