Sanitary pads are latest addition to the list of items being distributed to the poor and needy during the lockdown. Recently, UT cops took a lead and gave napkins to more than 350 ladies along with masks, gloves, sanitisers and essential food items in Manimajra area. The drive, police say, will continue in other areas too.
According to the information, the team of Chandigarh police, headed by SSP Nilambari Jagadale, was preparing a list of essential items when the idea about sanitary pads came.
Soon, the pads were procured and later distributed in the camp. An IT company came on board for the task and is working jointly with the cops. The drive took place at a community centre in Manimajra. The police team also boosted the morale of ladies who are staying at home these days. Discussions regarding adhering to lockdown guidelines also took place during the event. Later, members of Guru Ravi Dass gurudwara committee presented a siropa (robe of honour) to the SSP.
