Chandigarh swings on Teej festivities

As residents gathered in colourful attires, the event had enthralling dance performances, besides plays. Teej Queen competition was also held.

Girls came in traditional attires and wore vibrant colours, splashing the college campus in multi-coloured hues. Swings were also set up on the campus as students performed energetic giddha and traditional bhangra.

A campus of Mohali wore a festive look with buntings, fresh flowers and decorations replete with the traditional Punjabi items such as baagh, phulkaris, charkha, earthen pots, pakkhies and chhaj.

This event also had some games, based on testing their knowledge about Punjabi culture. As newly married daughters came home for their first Teej, the older relationships of mother and daughter-in-laws too celebrated with gusto.

A housing society in Kharar celebrated Teej with its residents this week. About 70 women came dressed in their best traditional finery, and sang Punjabi folk songs, did giddha and bhangra.
