Cancer survivors felicitated on World Cancer Day

On organised a series of events as part of the ‘Cancer Week’ from February 4 to 11. Cancer survivors, with various types of cancers of the breast, lung, neck and cervical also participated and kicked off the event with the lamp-lighting ceremony. This was followed by the Saraswati Vandana, the prayer meet. A lecture on cancer awareness by , Director, Oncology was also delivered.
Nursing staff and employees of the oncology ward presented a skit to sensitise the audience on cancer. , Endocrine & Breast Cancer Surgeon then gave a detailed analysis on breast cancer and its symptoms. , Director, Obstetrics & Gynaecology also discussed the importance of self-breast examination techniques. She added, "Early cancer detection is the key to timely treatment. It is important to stay aware, to stay safe from cancer. Women must remember this- pap smear, once a year to prevent cervical cancer."

A panel discussion on dispelling myths about cancer was also held and invited a round of applause from the gathering.
