Rock singer and biker
Nitish Pires
who was supposed to perform live in Bhubaneswar on March 17 and 18, had a quiet gig here with a handful of people present due to the
coronavirus scare. His show on the first day and other activities like meeting students and teenagers in ashrams and schools for both the days were cancelled. On the second evening he and his team could hold a gig in a private event, where few
bikers
were present, who had taken a lot of precautions from
COVID-19
.
“This was my first trip to Bhubaneswar. But the pandemic novel coronavirus ruined everything. The governments have imposed restrictions on mass gatheirngs. So keeping in mind all these, the organisers here had cancelled the events. Since we had come to the city, we just held a small event in a restaurant, where a few people attended. They had taken a lot or precautions and the organisers also had taken preventive measures. The situation demands such strict steps to be followed to contain the outbreak in India,” said the young musician who is also a biker. He has been travelling on his bike while his team has been touring on a bus.
The Goa-based singer and his
indie rock
band have been on a 13-city tour. This is a ride for a cause to bring awareness of the necessity to develop children and teens who are struggling to live their dream.
“As this is a crisis time, I couldn’t enjoy much. But the bunch of bikers, I met here are amazing people. I would come again once the situation becomes normal and will try to enthrall one and all with my music,” signed offPires.
