Earlier, this mela, held at the heart of the city, used to have so many sections and city people used to come here to learn about tribal people, their culture, tradition and lifestyle along with getting a chance to buy the authentic tribal farm and forest products from the

fair

. The photo gallery has been set up by the

Information and Public Relations

department of the state government and it showcases pictures of 62 tribal communities of the state.

“This year, there is nothing worth viewing except buying stuffs. Since there’s no other avenues around to hang out, we have come to this fair to chill out. The photo exhibition centre and the tribal museum showcasing tribal arts and artefacts add some visual element to the fair,”said Monalisa Jena, a youngster.

The fair that’s organised by the state government, started on January 26 and will conclude today. “Keeping the

pandemic

in mind, we have taken a lot of precautionary measures. This year, the event is done in a hybrid format. Many people visit the stalls and youngsters take selfies at the photo exhibition centre. Besides, people watch the cultural programmes on the large screens erected at the main stage. There are no live cultural events happening this year,” said AB Ota, member secretary, ATLC.
