A 13-day

international exhibition on folk and tribal art

was inaugurated today at the

Odisha State Museum

amidst the presence of hundreds of visitors. Over 100 paintings of various artists from as many as seven countries are on display in this art exhibition. It was part of the Chilika Art Sanctuary 2020.

“The theme of the

exhibition

is relationship between human and nature. We have exhibited paintings from seven countries such as Korea, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh and India. Along with 96 paintings we received from different artists from these countries, the museum also has showcased four of its paintings that are Odisha’s

folk art

,” said

, curator of the exhibition.


The popular folk and tribal paintings of these countries are on display for visitors to gain knowledge about these art forms. Minhwa paintings of Korea, Rickshaw art of Bangladesh, Mithila

painting

of Nepal, Kandyan painting of Sri Linka and many exquisite Indian folk and tribal art have been exhibited here. Odisha’s

Nabagunjar

painting, Ta’poi folk story and Kanchi abhiyan have been placed in the exhibition also.


The event was inaugurated by Pradeep Jena, development Commissioner-cum- Additional Chief Secretary, in the presence of Bishnupad Sethi, Principal Secretary of the department and Ranjan Kumar Das, director, Odia Language, Literature and Culture department and other officials of the department and the museum.
