‘Hunar’ - Craft Fair of indigenous arts

Convener of Hunar workshop at the Khajuraho dance festival, Shri Chinmay Mishra informed that 20 workshops of folk craft and craft are being organized under the Hunar workshop. The workshop showcases the Lac craft of Dewas, the clay craft of Chhatarpur, the Khadi craft of Niwari along with the local arts and talents. The natural colour mats of Andhra Pradesh and clothes of Neemuch are the centre of attraction for tourists. Along with this, Bandini, Batik, Bagh print,

Chanderi

and

Maheshwari

sarees are also attracting people. Products from the workshop are available for sale to tourists and art lovers. Tourists are also buying them with interest.

Art Mart - City of Woman
Art Mart convenor Preeta Gadkari said that this year’s Art Mart focuses on ‘Creativity of women’. As many as 500 art exhibitions of 250 women artists from 25 groups across the country have been organized which includes paintings, sculptures, drawings and graphics. Tourists are getting acquainted with the regional art and tradition of other states including Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra under one roof. Bundeli local art of Madhya Pradesh is the centre of attraction here.

Principal Secretary, Culture and Tourism Sheo Shekhar Shukla informed that there has been an age-old tradition of the creation of fine arts in the Indian cultural scenario. These arts include sculpture, painting, painting, photography, etc. Regional artists have earned national and international fame with their creativity. The Hunar and ‘Art Mart’ has been set up this year in the festival with the aim of promoting and financially empowering these artists. Artists working in different states of the country are sharing their experiences, during their work with tourists. The eminent iconic craftsmen are sharing their skills with the tourists. Students and tourists are also finding answers to their queries during the meetings with the artists.
