Top 10 superhero movies to watch out for

If the end of the 'Avengers' franchise has got you feeling a little blue, we've listed down a long list of films to watch out for, once the lockdown is lifted. So bad guys beware because these films are sure to put the super in superhero. From Scarlett Johansson flagging off a new phase of the MCU with her film 'Black Widow' to director Zack Snyder finally getting ready to release the Snyder cut of 'Justice League', here's all there is to look forward in the months ahead.

2/11

Wonder Woman 1984

Get ready to go back in time to '80s with Gal Gadot reprising her role as the Amazonian demi-god in 'Wonder Woman 1984'. The film that was set to release in June has now been set for an August release. This time around she will take on two supervillains - Barbara Minerva, a.k.a. Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig and Maxwell Lord played by Pedro Pascal.

3/11

Black Widow

Scarlett Johansson will flag off the next phase of the MCU with her first stand-alone film 'Black Widow'. The film will be set post the events of 'Captain America: Civil War' and 'Avengers: Infinity War', will see her track down the enemies of her past and take on her arch-nemesis - Taskmaster. Apart from the many fan theories doing the rounds, reports seem to suggest that the film will set the launchpad for a long lineup of films slated to release in the years ahead. Initially set for a May 1, 2020, release, the film has now been slated for a November release.

4/11

Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Tom Hardy will soon be back to 'biting' form when he takes over the screen as the sentient alien Symbiote in 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage'. Originally set for an October release, the film helmed by Andy Serkis this year has been pushed ahead to June 2021. Although much about the film's plot has been kept tightly under wraps, rumours running wild hint at another symbiote turning up – Venom’s offspring, Carnage. The film will also feature Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed in pivotal characters.

5/11

Morbius

Oscar-winner Jared Leto will try to redeem himself from the poor reviews that came his way for playing the Joker in DC's 'Suicide Squad' when he takes on the role of the Marvel antihero Morbius, the Living Vampire. Based on the character Michael Morbius - Spider-Man's nemesis, the film will tell the story of the Nobel Prize-winning biochemist who tried to cure a rare blood disease using an experimental treatment combining electroshock therapy and bats. What at first appears to be a success is then realised to be potentially worse than the disease as he developed vampiric qualities. The film is now set for a 2021 release.

6/11

The Eternals

Marvel Studios hoped to close the year with a bang, by slating a November release for ‘The Eternals’, but sadly even these ancient cosmic beings had to bow out of a 2020 release due to the coronavirus crisis. The film starring Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh and Angelina Jolie as Thena, will reportedly turn back the clock to a million years ago. The film will reportedly follow the cosmic beings known as the Celestials who genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals along with the villainous Deviants. Directed by Chloe Zhao the film already has fans excited with merely a first look character poster.

7/11

The Batman

After the phenomenal success of Joaquin Phoenix's 'Joker', all eyes are now on director Matt Reeves who is getting ready to give his spin to the masked vigilante 'The Batman'. Featuring Robert Pattinson in the lead the film will see the hero go up against some of DC's biggest villains, including Penguin, Carmine Falcone, Catwoman and the Riddler. The film was scheduled to release on 25th June 2021, but due to delays in production, it will now release in October 2021.

8/11

Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson will soon be in his anti-hero form when he takes flight as 'Black Adam'. Fans got a first look at the character in his black and golden suit of armour. Although much is still unknown about the plot, reports state that the film would actually introduce the Justice Society to the DCEU.

9/11

Thor: Love and Thunder

The God of Thunder will be back for a new adventure, in 'Thor: Love And Thunder'. Chris Hemsworth will return for the fourth instalment of the film along with Natalie Portman as Jane Foster with rumours running wild of her character being 'worthy' enough to lift the mighty hammer Mjolnir. Slated for a Late 2021 release the film is being directed by Taika Waititi and will also star Tessa Thompson and Christian Bale.

10/11

Zack Snyder's Justice League

We all saw DC's 'Justice League' back in 2017, but director Zack Snyder, who helmed a major part of the original will soon release his version of the film that is rumoured to be 'much better' than the one that released three years ago. Fans who were unimpressed with the 2017 film that saw 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon take over the reins, may just get the closure they demanded when they get to see the original vision Snyder had for the superhero franchise that saw Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Flash band together.

11/11

Aquaman 2

Another DC hero getting ready for his big return is Jason Momoa's 'Aquaman'. The origins film that was a huge success at the box-office, will be back in a sequel being written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. Buzz is that the sequel will be inspired by the Silver Age DC comics featuring Black Manta. 'Aquaman 2' is currently scheduled to release on December 16, 2022.
