Pop/Rock: Jacob Collier holds the distinction of being not just a singer, but an arranger, arranger, composer, and prodigious multi-instrumentalist based in London, England. He initially found fame thanks to YouTube, with his renditions of hits from legendary names such as

Stevie

Wonder, like 'Don't You Worry 'bout A Thing' and 'In My Room' is his debut album. In fact, 'Woke Up Today' is so Stevie Wonderish that it can be construed as his own tribute to the musician. Eager to put his best musical foot forward, he has thrown in everything but the kitchen sink into the making of this album in terms of musical styles ' something that the plethora of instruments depicted on the cover photo might suggest. What we have as a result is something that is probably the polar opposite to the melancholic introspection on the other album in this week's international music reviews. 'Flintstones' features some very 1950's style doo-wop choruses that might sound a bit funny to the uninitiated at first, but is also quite catchy. 'Down The Line' has some cool piano work; yet another testimony to his skill with various instruments. While challenging the odds and defying expectations, it will surely be interesting to see what he comes up with in his second album. As he himself reportedly said in an interview, 'I've been able to breathe some life into some pretty insane ideas.'
