While Swifties can’t wait for their ‘Pop Queen’ Taylor Swift to marry Travis Kelce, the sports fans are in fear that the Super Bowl champion might retire before tying the wedding knot.
Ever since Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announced their engagement in August 2025, the buzz around the NFL champion’s retirement became louder than ever. However, retirement talk is not new for Travis Kelce. Here’s everything Taylor Swift’s fiancé has said about his retirement.

As per ESPN, Travis Kelce told reporters on November 21, 2025, that he will decide his next move by the end of the season, i.e., early March. Talking to the reporters, he said, "I want to give the Chiefs a good opportunity, whether I come back or not… or whether they want me back or not. He further added, “I'd like to make that decision before they've got to get draft picks and free agency opens to fill the roster appropriately. All that will be at the end of the season. I won't be thinking about it until then."

Retirement rumors also swirled after the Chiefs were blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX last February. Kelce later revealed that walking away after that loss never felt right.
On the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis explained that the way the season ended left him feeling unfinished.
“The biggest thing is, I ** love playing the game of football,” he said. “I still feel like I can play it at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year.”
Kelce said he carried “a bad taste” from how the season ended and didn’t want that to be his final memory of the sport.

Ultimately, Kelce has said his decision will hinge on whether his body recovers enough to withstand another full NFL grind. “If my body can heal up and rest up, and I can feel confident that I can go out there and give it another 18-, 20-, 21-week run, I think I would do it in a heartbeat,” he said on New Heights on January 7.

For now, Kelce plans to step away briefly, live “like a regular human,” and let both his body and mind settle before making a call.


While Travis Kelce has never linked his retirement decision directly to his personal life, his engagement to global pop icon Taylor Swift has inevitably added another layer of public curiosity.
