‘Will cinemas become silos - like jazz bars’: Leonardo DiCaprio weighs in on the future of cinema
Leonardo DiCaprio recently opened up about his take on the future of cinema amidst the changing paradigms of film viewing. He addressed how documentaries disappeared from the cinema altogether, and how the rise of OTT platforms is affecting the film-going experience as well.
While he had little hope about how theatre and cinema would prevail in the end, he also feared that it would become a niche hobby in the coming future. He further added, “Will cinemas become silos — like jazz bars?”
His latest film, ‘One Battle After Another’, was a major hit and was one of his features with famed director Paul Thomas Anderson. The story follows the life of a former revolutionary who stays in hiding with his daughter. When his past comes back to haunt him, he must do whatever it takes to get her back.
