Following the premiere of the highly anticipated 'What If...?' Season 2, Marvel Studios surprised fans by revealing a change in the voice cast for a beloved character - Groot. This came as a surprise to many as it marks the first time that the actor is not voicing the beloved character, since he first appeared in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

In the debut episode of 'What If...?' Season 2, titled 'What If Nebula Joined the Nova Corps', Groot made an appearance as a supporting characters. The Direct reported that the episode's credits confirmed that Fred Tatasciore has replaced Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot.

Despite the timing of this casting change coinciding with the release of the new season, it was clarified that Diesel's exclusion from 'What If...?' was not linked to the recent allegations of sexual assault. Early this month, it was disclosed that Diesel is facing a lawsuit filed by his former assistant, Asta Jonasson, alleging sexual battery during the production of 'Fast Five' in 2010. The lawsuit comes more than a year after the enactment of the Speak Out Act, allowing victims of sexual assault and harassment to come forward, even if they had previously signed non-disclosure agreements.

Diesel's legal team swiftly denied the allegations, saying, "This is the first he has ever heard about this more than 13-year-old claim made by a purportedly nine-day employee."

Most recently, Marvel announced that Jonathan Majors has been fired from playing the role of supervillain Kang in the upcoming films of the 'Multiverse Saga'. Rumours are rife that the studio plan on getting the actor replaced. Meanwhile, other reports suggest that Kang's fate in the upcoming 'Avengers' film is uncertain.
