'The Devil Wears Prada 2' brings back the original four Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, alongside a wave of exciting new faces, but not everyone who showed up on set made it into the final film. From creative decisions to scheduling conflicts to scenes that simply did not fit the story, here are four notable names that ended up on the cutting room floor.

According to Entertainment Weekly, one of Hollywood's most in-demand actors following the success of 'The Housemaid', Sydney Sweeney was spotted on set during production, and speculation about her involvement circulated throughout 2025. She played herself in a three-minute scene set inside the Dior offices, where Emily Charlton is dressing her when Andy, Miranda, and Nigel arrive seeking Emily's help. The scene was ultimately cut for structural reasons, with the creative team describing it as a difficult decision and expressing genuine gratitude for her time.

Best known for playing hacker Oliver Hampton in 'How to Get Away With Murder', Conrad Ricamora was cast as Andy's roommate in the sequel, but his character did not survive test screenings, the report revealed. Audiences questioned the point of the character in the context of the larger story, and the role was eventually cut. Ricamora took it graciously, acknowledging on Instagram that his character did not make sense in the grand scheme of the film while calling the experience one of the best of his working life.

There would be no 'Devil Wears Prada' without Anna Wintour, the former Vogue editor-in-chief whose former assistant wrote the original book and whose personality informed Meryl Streep's, Miranda Priestly and, the publication noted, Wintour did visit the set and filmed one take on camera, but director David Frankel ultimately decided her presence was too meta for a film that exists in a parallel world where Runway and Miranda Priestly stand in for Vogue and Wintour herself.

Adrian Grenier, who played Andy's boyfriend Nate in the original film, never made it to set at all, and the outlet added that his absence is worth noting given how central the character was to the first film. There were plans for Nate to appear in a cameo, but the timing proved impossible to arrange before the production schedule closed. Grenier addressed his absence with good humour in a recent Starbucks advertisement, suggesting it was perhaps time to leave Nate firmly in 2006.
