Hollywood’s biggest sequels still to come in 2026: From ‘Toy Story 5’ to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

The second half of 2026 is absolutely stacked when it comes to big-screen returns. From Marvel to Pixar to Panem, the most eagerly awaited sequels are all still ahead. Whether you are a die-hard franchise fan or just someone who loves a good cinematic event, this lineup has something for everyone. From witches returning to their coven to sand worms having their final moment and superheroes facing their biggest villain yet, the rest of 2026 is about to be one for the books. Here is everything you need to know before the lights go down.

2/10

'Toy Story 5'

Woody may be gone, but the playroom has not. Jessie now leads the room with Buzz as her second-in-command, but things get complicated when Bonnie falls for a frog-like tablet named Lilypad, threatening to upend the entire playroom hierarchy. This animated family adventure is directed by Angus MacLane and brings back Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, asking the question: What happens to toys when screens steal the imagination? It hits theaters on June 19.

3/10

'Minions and Monsters'

The third instalment of the Minions franchise sees the beloved yellow chaos agents take on their wildest mission yet. They reunite to find frightening creatures to star in a monster movie, setting off a chain of loud, chaotic, and completely lovable mayhem. Pierre Coffin returns to direct this animated comedy with Steve Carell back as Gru, and it all kicks off on July 1.

4/10

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'

The fourth MCU Spider-Man film marks a bold new beginning for Peter Parker after the world-altering events of 'No Way Home'. Four years have passed, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of everyone he loves. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Sadie Sink, the film swings into theaters on July 31.

5/10

'Practical Magic 2'

Nearly three decades after the original bewitched audiences worldwide, the sequel brings the Owens sisters back to the big screen. A multi-generational family of witches, cursed to be loveless for centuries, attempts to break the spell by confronting dark secrets and making sacrifices for each other. Directed by Susanne Bier and starring Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Stockard Channing, and Dianne Wiest, the spell is cast again on September 11.

6/10

'The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping'

The sixth film in the 'Hunger Games' franchise travels back to Panem 24 years before Katniss Everdeen's story to witness the brutal 50th Hunger Games, where each district was forced to send twice as many tributes. Directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Joseph Zada, McKenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Maya Hawke, Glenn Close, and Kieran Culkin, with Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson also confirmed to appear, the film opens on November 20.

7/10

'The Adventures of Cliff Booth'

The follow-up to Quentin Tarantino's Oscar-winning 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' picks up eight years later with Cliff Booth navigating the studio system as a Hollywood fixer. Written by Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, this neo-noir crime drama stars Brad Pitt alongside Timothy Olyphant, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Carla Gugino, debuting on November 25.

8/10

'Jumanji: Open World'

The third instalment of the rebooted 'Jumanji' franchise is confirmed to be Dwayne Johnson's final chapter in the game. Directed by Jake Kasdan, this action-adventure comedy brings back Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, and Danny DeVito for one last unpredictable ride that lands in theaters on December 25.

9/10

'Dune: Part Three'

The concluding chapter of Denis Villeneuve's epic space opera trilogy brings Paul Atreides' story to its final, inevitable collision. Believed to be Villeneuve's last film in the franchise before he moves on to direct the next James Bond, it stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Javier Bardem, and Robert Pattinson, closing the saga on December 18.

10/10

'Avengers: Doomsday'

The fifth Avengers film and the most ambitious crossover in MCU history sees the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and X-Men all collide against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and starring Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Tom Hiddleston, among many more, the film arrives on December 18, the same day as 'Dune: Part Three', making it the most stacked single day at the movies in recent memory.
