The first teaser of ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ has been unveiled, and the kaiju is wreaking havoc in New York city. During a recent event in Las Vegas, filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki revealed the film’s teaser and also showed behind-the-scenes footage of his team at work.
“Minus Zero” is a direct sequel to the 2023 Japanese film ‘Godzilla Minus One,’ which took home the Oscar for best visual effects.

According to Variety, Filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki took the CinemaCon stage in Las Vegas on Tuesday and revealed the first trailer of ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ to the attendees. The trailer picks up two years after “Minus One” and continues the story of the survivors from the kaiju’s last attack, director Takashi Yamazaki revealed. The trailer got a big cheer for its final moment that showed Godzilla approaching the Statue of Liberty as the kaiju makes its way through New York City.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Yamazaki told the crowd that the film will be a direct sequel to ‘Godzilla Minus One.’ He also revealed that the film will continue to follow the story of the Shikishima family. Through a translator, the filmmaker added, “In this new film, an even deeper despair will descend upon Japan and the Shikishima family. When faced with overwhelming and inescapable force, how do people fight back?” He noted, “The journey from Minus to Zero will not be an easy one.”
‘Godzilla Minus One’ centered on Ryunosuke Kamiki as Kōichi Shikishima, a former kamikaze pilot dealing with PTSD and survivor’s guilt as he dealt with Godzilla in post-World War II Japan.
