Furthermore, the actress recalled that her mother taught her not to take ‘NO’ as an answer. “And you know, that's easier said than done, but I would sort of say, oh, OK, you don't want me right now. Someone will, so I'll come back to you," she explained.


Trying new things helped to keep her mind busy and creative, instead of dwelling on the rejection she faced. “I think that that's helped me in the darker times when I wasn't getting what I really coveted and dreamt about; it kept me busy and creative,” she expressed. In a place like Hollywood, where every face and every skill shines differently, the actress realised early on that comparing herself to others would not help.


While it is difficult to practice this method in an industry where every little update is compared, she tried hard not to fit into anyone’s shoes. However, it is also important to play by the rules once in a while. “But don't let them tell you that because you're not like so-and-so or this, that you somehow don't have value," she said.
