Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, Ben Affleck: Actors who predicted their superhero turn before they happened

Landing a role as a superhero in a Marvel or DC film is as good as it gets for any actor. Strapping on a cape and getting into latex suits has been on the bucket list of quite a lot of Hollywood stars, and for this lucky bunch, life came full circle. From Anthony Mackie to Simu Liu, Ben Affleck, and others, here's a list of celebrities who predicted their superhero turn long before it happened.

2/7

Anthony Mackie

Life came full circle for Anthony Mackie when his 2014 tweet manifesting an African-American Captain America came true with him assuming the role in the hit series 'Falcon and The Winter Soldier'. The actor, best known for his part as Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, picked up his shield and took the mantle from Christ Evans' Steve Rogers.

3/7

Simu Liu

Marvel's 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' star Simu Liu had the perfect post to keep up with the 'How It Started vs How It's Going' trend. The actor shared his tweet from 2018 that read, "Ok @Marvel, are we gonna talk or what #ShangChi." Fast forward a couple of years and the actor is now set to play the first Asian Marvel superhero in his standalone film.

4/7

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck first played the Marvel superhero Daredevil way back in 2003, but he didn't seem to fancy the red suit as much as he fancied playing Batman. The actor made headlines when word got out that he build a 'Batcave' in his house. He later went on to clarify that it was nothing more than a panic room with a TV and phone, in case of a break-in. A few years later, the actor got his chance to actually don the Batsuit in 'Batman Vs Superman', 'Justice League' and 'The Flash'.

5/7

Tom Holland

Did you know that Tom Holland manifested his turn as Spider-Man, in 2013, three years before he actually got into his Spidey suit? Speaking to the press during a 2013 awards show, the then 17-year-old was asked what kind of superhero he would want to play. With surprising accuracy, he said he would like to play Spider-Man in a 'reboot of the reboot'. The actor first swung into action in 'Captain America: Civil War', and got his own trilogy, and is now set to play a major role.

6/7

Henry Cavill

When Henry Cavill first heard that a TV adaptation of 'The Witcher' was in development, he reportedly drove his agent up the walls to get him a meeting with the makers as he was way too keen to play Geralt of Rivia. The actor wasn't just a fan of the video game, he even knew everything about the story and characters. He took to social media to share a fan-made poster of himself as a good fit to play the part. A couple of years later, he finally landed the part and beat 200 other actors also vying for the same role.

7/7

Donald Glover

Donald Glover made no secret about his desire to be cast as Spider-Man, especially at a time when Sony was looking for a new actor to star in the rebooted 'The Amazing Spider-Man'. Even though Glover campaigned to play the character, the role eventually went to Andrew Garfield. A few years down the line, Glover had his dream come true when he voiced Miles Morales/Spider-Man on the animated series 'Ultimate Spider-Man'.
