5 Best murder mystery films to watch right now

Murder mystery films have captivated audiences for decades, delivering twists, turns, and the thrill of uncovering the truth. Whether you're a fan of classic whodunits or modern thrillers, we have something for everyone. Here’s a list of 5 movies that are sure to keep you guessing.

2/6

'Clue'

Set against the backdrop of 1994, six strangers are invited to join an exclusive party. Each guest is greeted by the butler Wadsworth and the maid Yvette, and receives a pseudonym to maintain confidentiality: "Colonel Mustard", "Mrs. White", "Mrs. Peacock", "Mr. Green", "Professor Plum", and "Miss Scarlet". This movie is very unique, as it has 3 endings, instead of the usual one-ending. The endings are divided into sections - A) ‘How it might’ve happened?’ B) ‘How about this?’ and finally C, ‘Here’s what really happened’.

3/6

'The Unusual Suspects'

The story revolves around the interrogation of Roger "Verbal" Kint, a small-time scammer and one of only two survivors of a massacre and fire aboard a ship anchored at the Port of Los Angeles. Upon questioning, Kint, through a flashback, offers the interrogator with an intricate explanation of how he and his criminal friends got to the boat and how a mysterious crime lord named Keyser Söze controlled them. The Usual Suspects is still a timeless and compelling masterwork because to its outstanding performances, nonlinear plot, and one of the most stunning twist endings in film history.

4/6

'Sherlock Holmes'

The movie follows the story of the eccentric detective, Sherlock Holmes, and his dedicated partner, Dr. Watson, in a case that seems to be the most puzzling one he has ever come across. After the capture and death of the sinister Lord Blackwood, who is believed to wield black magic, Holmes is shocked when Blackwood returns from the dead to terrorise London once again. As they investigate further, Holmes and Watson uncover a web of deception, cult related rituals, and a conspiracy to overthrow the government. With its quick-paced action, clever deductions, and witty banter, the movie presents an exciting and vibrant interpretation of the classic character.

5/6

'Murder Mystery'

The movie centres on Nick and Audrey, a New York-based couple who embark on a European trip to reignite the spark in their marriage. They are invited to board a billionaire's yacht while on vacation, only to be set up for his murder. Framed as the prime suspects, Nick and Audrey must evade authorities while using their intelligence to unravel a web of secrets and expose the real killer. The movie is a perfect blend of lighthearted comedy and humour.

6/6

'Knives Out'

Knives Out is a sharp and fashionable murder mystery that revolves around the unexplained death of millionaire crime novelist Harlan Thrombey, following a classic get-together at his house. When Benoit Blanc, a southern detective, is assigned the case, he has to discover the truth. The movie keeps audiences guessing, as lies, secrets, and family conflicts arise. The movie offers sharp societal commenting and a hint of humor while revamping the traditional murder mystery genre.
