Bhojpuri celebs who started their acting career with Bollywood films

Many actors have a dream to work in the Bollywood and enjoy the attention and fame. However it is a bitter truth that it's not easy to sustain in this glamour world. Though acting is an individual's own talent, while surviving in the Bollywood industry is all about fate and dedication that one puts in. Here, we list down some popular Bhojpuri actors who first tried their hands in the Bollywood industry before turning their interest to Bhojpuri cinema.

Bollywood star Govinda’s relative and actor Vinay Anand started her acting career from the Bollywood movie ‘Sautela’ in 1999. The film was a remake of the Tamil movie ‘Cheran Pandiyan’ starring famous actors such as Mithun Chakraborty, Reema Lagoo and Suresh Oberoi. The movie was directed by T. Ramarao and produced by Dharmanand Joshi. Later he also did another Bollywood film titled 'Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya'. Vinay Anand is best known for his roles in Bhojpuri movies like ‘Bhail Tohra Se Pyar I Love You’, ‘Bihari Rikshawala’, ‘Mangal Phera’ and ‘Mati Ke Saugandh’.

The well-known face of the Bhojpuri film industry Ravi Kishan started her acting career in 1992 from the film ‘Pitambar’. The movie was directed by Imran, featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Ravi Kishan, Raza Murad and Kiran Kumar. Now, Ravi Kishan is known as one of the successful and highest-paid actors of Bhojpuri cinema. He has even produced some Bhojpuri films such as ‘Sanki Daroga’ and ‘Chhu Mantar’. He simultaneously gave some hits to Bhojpuri movies like ‘Pandit Ji Batai Na Biyah Kab hoi’, ‘Gabbar Singh’, ‘Ram Balram’, ‘Devra Bada Satawela’, ‘Bairi Kangana 2’ and ‘Sanki Daroga’.

Sikandar Kharbanda who is known for his work in the Bhojpuri movie ‘Ram Balram’ started her career with the Bollywood film ‘Bad Boys’ in 2003. He has appeared in some hit Bhojpuri movies like ‘Gabbar Singh’, ‘Rampur Ka Laxman’, ‘Pandit Ji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoi’ and ‘Bambai Ki Laila Chapra Ke Chaila’. Sikandar has also worked in a television show and has done over twenty Bhojpuri movies. He is best known for his roles in Bollywood films like ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’, ‘Style’, ‘Taarzan: the wonder car’ and ‘Aatma’.

Bhojpuri actress Nagma started her acting career with Salman Khan’s film ‘Baaghi: A Rebel for Love’ in 1990. She was 15 years old when the film was released. The movie was directed by Deepak Shivdasani and produced by Nitin Manmohan and Neha. Nagma made her Bhojpuri debut in 2005 with the film ‘Pandit Ji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoi’ opposite Ravi Kishan. She is best known for her roles in Bhojpuri movies like ‘Dulhan Milal Dildar’, ‘Ganga’, ‘Mai Baap’, ‘Raja Thakur’ and ‘Tu Hamaar Hou’.

Popular actress Vijayalakshmi is best known for her stage name Rambha. She is mainly known for playing roles opposite Bhojpuri megastar Ravi Kishan. Rambha started her Bollywood career in 1995 with the film ‘Jallad’. The movie stars Mithun Chakraborty, Moushmi Chatterjee, Rambha, Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor and Prem Chopra. In 2006, she made her Bhojpuri debut with the film ‘Purav Aur Paschim’. The film features Ravi Kishan and Rambha in the lead role.
