Lata Mangeshkar died in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital on Sunday. She was 92. A funeral with state honours will be held this evening. The singer was taken to the intensive care unit on January 8 after testing positive for COVID-19.
While speaking to ETimes exclusively, Bhojpuri singer Sneh Upadhya expressed her grief on Lata's demise and said, "The news of the passing away of the legend of voice breaks me today.

It was my dream to meet her one day. I grew up listening to her songs. She was an inspiration. She was a nightingale. She leaves a void that cannot be filled. May her soul rest in peace. Lata Ji, whenever I sing I will always remember you."
Lata Mangeshkar was also being treated for pneumonia. Over the next few weeks, she showed signs of improvement. However, on Saturday, hospital authorities stated that the singer had been put back on the ventilator after her health deteriorated.
Lata won three National Awards for Best Female Playback Singer for the films 'Parichay', 'Kora Kagaz' and 'Lekin'. Other memorable films in her credits include 'Pakeezah', 'Abhimaan', 'Amar Prem', 'Aandhi', 'Silsila', 'Chandni', 'Sagar', 'Rudali' and 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge'.
