When Soumitra said, 'I love you'

When Soumitra said, 'I love you'
Soumitra Ray, frontman of Bhoomi, has started writing his second novel. “My first is ready to be published and I have already started work on my second,” said the musician, who is currently battling a few health issues. “My bilirubin levels are high and I got diagnosed with fatty liver recently. Though my doctor told me that fatty liver is very common, I need to get fit before the show season,” he said.

As rains lashed out on Saturday afternoon, Soumitra was reminded of a whole host of rain songs. “But my favourite is the one I composed impromptu on a rainy evening in 1976-77,” he said. Story goes that Soumitra was still in school at that time and a girl from another school had come to see his play. “I was performing a play that day and this girl came to see it. We really liked each other. It was evening when I sneaked out of school with an umbrella in hand to escort her to her dormitory. It was raining and we had to walk quite a distance. That’s when I made up a song — I Love you and Only You and regaled it to her. It’s my most favourite rain song till date. I don’t think I have better memories associated with any other rain song,” he told us. So, does his wife know about the incident, we asked. “She has heard this story over and over again. She’s completely fine as she knows me inside out,” he added.
