At a time when more and more singers and musicians are trying to host online concerts on social media, Lagnajita Chakraborty has decided to go in the opposite direction. The singer told us that she has not done any online live show for free so far and will not do so in future too, unless it is associated with some fundraising activity. "I am completely against the present mindset of doing a live show because I have nothing else to do.
At the same time, I don't want people to think that I am not doing live shows because of the nominal remuneration factor," she said. Given the present social and economic crisis, Lagnajita believes that when people don't have enough money to buy food, then they should focus on that first rather than thinking about buying tickets for concerts.
On the other hand, two out of her three new releases have been postponed due to the lockdown. The song Amar Ektara from Rakta Rahasya was released just three days before the lockdown was implemented. "Another song in Mainak Bhowmik's next film is ready. But I think we will have to wait till things get better," she added.
When asked how the lockdown is treating her, Lagnajita laughed and said that for the last one year, she has not been active in social media for the simple fact that she wanted to be alone and achieve her peace of mind. And the lockdown has helped her to some extent.
