Khnada gears up to get married
Khnada Bhattacherjee is getting married in February. The groom, Souptik Chakraborty, currently lives in Argentina and works for a software firm. “My fiancé is not a musician. He is a software engineer. We know each other for many years now. He proposed me about 12 years ago and I politely decline. I was stupid then,” Khnada confessed coyly, adding, “Later, he proposed me again — about a few months ago.

He told me, ‘Enough of it now! Let’s get married’. And this time, I agreed.”
But how do they know each other? “Around 12 years ago, I went for a show in a school in Dum Dum. He attended the show with a friend, Somnath Ghoshal. Now, Souptik is also a parttime documentary maker and during that time, he was working on a documentary, Rehab. He asked my friend if I would do a playback in the docu. Before that, I had never sung any soft rock. I agreed to sing and I also acted in a little role there. That’s how we first came close. The name of the song is Glycerine. It was penned by Somenath and composed by another friend, Tamal Kanti Halder. In fact, it was after this film, he proposed and I said no. But we always kept in touch, even after he left the country,” said Khnada, who is busy inviting people.
By her own confession, Glycerine was one of the darkest songs she has ever recorded. “But that is where I started one of the most important journeys of my life,” she signed off.
