Five romantic Sonu Nigam songs perfect for your monsoon playlist

With the pitter-patter of raindrops, it brings a never-ending feeling of happiness, a cool breeze, and obviously nature drenched in rain. Lush, green, and alive — monsoon is a sight to anyone who loves nature and it’s monsoon calling for almost every musical year. Whether the rainy day has you thinking about your future or reminiscing on your past queue up these calming tracks from none other than Sonu Nigam to further that cozy feeling.

Sonu Nigam on Lata Mangeshkar: You want people like her to never die, you expect them to be immortal

2/6

‘Piya Re’ title track

With Sonu Nigam's heavenly voice there is no need to understand any language other than music! This one yet again proved how Jeet Gannguli’s music and Sonu’s voice create magic effortlessly. The song proves why we call him ‘the melodious voice ever’! Priyo Chattopadhyay’s touching lyrics equally deserves appreciation.

3/6

‘Tokey Niye Banchbo Aami’ from ‘Bandhan’

This melodious song shows the love and friendship between a father and a son. A father's love is unconditional and eternal. The song stares Jeet (father) and Master Angshu (son), sung by Sonu Nigam and composed by Jeet Gannguli. Gautam Sushmit’s lyrics are equally brilliant.

4/6

‘Dole Rai Kishori’ from ‘Madhur Milan’

Sonu once said that singing devotional songs made him a more versatile singer and this song shows why he said it. Composed by Babul Bose and lyrics by the great Pulak Bandyopadhyay, ‘Dole Rai Kishori’ is another timeless classic. Devotional music has been an integral part of singer Sonu’s musical journey.

5/6

‘Dekho Naa’ from ‘Fanaa’

The onscreen chemistry between Kajol and Aamir Khan is unique. They are one of the most-loved yet uncommon pairs. And, when they appear in a romantic movie, a rain song is a must. This song, with the magical voice of Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan, is a treat to any musical ear during monsoon. The lyrics by Prasoon Joshi take us to an all new world smitten with love.

6/6

‘Maana ke Hum yaar nahi’ from ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu’

This beautiful song is about regret, desire, and longing. What keeps one hooked on the music are the enormous possibilities buried deep inside that tiny word “if”. Sonu Nigam performed the song in his smooth voice after Parineeti Chopra. And it’s unclear whether Sonu’s soulful voice gave the melodious song additional depth and his voice somehow exhibits a new kind of suffering.
