Folk tunes ruled the roost at a recent edition of Jamsteady, where city bands Fakiri and Brahmakhyapa performed to a happening crowd.
The former set the mood for the evening with Lalon Fakir songs like Cholo jai anonder bajare, Jaat gelo jaat gelo bole and Allah bole mon re pakhi, and followed it up with the crowd favourite, Sonar chand. Brahmakhyapa members, Malabika and Sanjay, belted out Bhromor, Hriday pinjira, Khanchar bhitor achin pakhi and Saper bish, much to the delight of all and sundry .

“It was a special gig for us, as Gabu and Akash Mittal had also joined in. The crowd, too, had a great time, as we mixed baul with jazz and blues," said Sanjay . Singer Subholina, who was present at the do, said, “A folk evening is a rare treat and needless to say, we had a blast. It was a welcome change."
