So Sita, who is considered to be the epitome of chastity and purity, is ironically now being represented on screen by a woman branded a 'porn star'. Just like the public furor against Doel, Sita's morality too was questioned in the Indian epic The Ramayana, that denounced her as 'fallen', the moment her image of chastity was tarnished by the threat of her sexuality. Sita's trials symbolically echo Doel's turmoils, as the actress helplessly watches her life crumble before her eyes.
