Raima Sen is the granddaughter of Maharani Gayatri Devi

Every Bengalee is well aware of Raima Sen's family legacy but, how many of you know that the actress has royal lineage?Raima’s father Bharat Dev Varma belongs to the royal family of Cooch Behar. His mother Ila Devi was actually the elder sister of Jaipur's queen Gayatri Devi. It's no wonder why she is a classic beauty.

Cute nicknames

When you are from a typical Bengali family, you have to have a cute nickname. For Raima, she has several nicknames. Though the popular nickname is Dolu, those who are close to Raima are known to call her Dolls, Dollzie or Dolly. Even in her work front, co-actors and friends tease her with her pet name. However, the Bengali actress loves to be called as Raima or Rai.

Raima donned the producer's hat

From the very beginning of her career, Raima Sen worked in many hit movies directed by Rituporno Ghosh, Koushik Ganguly, Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Zoya Akhtar and others. But, it does not end here. She has even co-produced a movie with her co-star Parambrata Chatterjee and director Suman Ghosh titled 'Mi Amor'. It’s the first Bengali film to be shot entirely in Miami and also the first to have an exclusive online release.

Raima was offered to play Suchitra Sen in 'Mahanayak'

Initially, Raima Sen was offered to enact the role of her grandmother, legendary actress Suchitra Sen in Birsha Dasgupta's popular series 'Mahanayak'. However, she rejected the offer due to a date clash with another project. However, there are reports that state that the actress will only essay her grandmother’s role if it is made for the big screen.

Never reads the entire script

Did you know that Raima never reads the entire script? Yes, it’s not a secret to the directors and actors who have worked with her. Raima has a unique habit of not reading the entire script; she just goes through her portion only. It has been rumoured that it happened after Srijit Mukherjee found her tearing down the pages from the 'Baishe Srabon' script. Srijit was furious and wanted to burn the pages of the same. Since then Raima reportedly only skips the scenes with a simple 'bye'.

Her emotional bond with Rituparno Ghosh

Raima Sen worked with Rituparno Ghosh on several occasions, but very few know she actually shared a great emotional bond with the award-winning director. He allegedly treated her like his own daughter. During an interview, once Prosenjit Chatterjee, one of Raima’s favourite co-stars, revealed that whenever the actress speaks about the late director, she becomes emotional.
