Prosenjit's transformation over the years

This is a picture from the late '90s. A head full of wavy hair and a clean shaven face used to be characteristic Prosenjit for the better part of the '90s. And this particular picture has achieved epic status when it comes to Prosenjit's photographs.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Experimenting with his moustache started towards the beginning of the millennium. We would get to see him sporting an English style with a thin strip over his lips. His hair colour went from black to burgundy to tan when he started colouring his hair. The length of his hair changed along with the colour.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Prosenjit was truly the torch-bearer when it came to men colouring their hair. His fluffed up hairstyle, with the 'singara pyanch' adorning his forehead was a style that young men tried to copy blindly. He would regularly top it with rainbow-hued goggles too. The look, however out-of-sync it might seem with his present day style, was a rage back then.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Prosenjit Chatterjee did not shave for a month for his character in Asukh. The deep cut mark on the forehead that he sported throughout the film was a mark of the accident that his character suffered in the beginning of the film. The film, directed by Rituparno Ghsoh and starring Konkona Sen Sharma was one of Rituparno Ghosh's most talked about films, on infidelity, and Prosenjit Chatterjee was in his absolute prime. We loved his common-man look, without the special touch-ups.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

His Chokher Bali look was one of the most suave styles Prosenjit ever sported. Gelled, back-brushed hair and the hint of a handlebar made him look the perfect Jomidar barir chhele, paired opposite Aishwarya's Rai's Binodini. The film by Rituparno Ghosh , exploited Prosenjit Chatterjee's true acting prowess, and he definitely delivered a stellar performance.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

In Srijit Mukherji's Autograph, Prosenjit played the character of a suave but headstrong actor belonging to the Bengali film industry. His chiselled look went well with the character. We saw him experimenting with his hairstyle a lot during this period with moawks and spikes giving him a dapper look.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Goutam Ghosh's Moner Manush saw Prosenjit in a never seen before avatar. He played the role of Lalan Fakir, and his long, unkempt hair and long beard, with an ektara in his hand, brought alive the character on screen. The movie has won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration at 58th National Film Award.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

In Baishey Srabon, Prosenjit played the role of a psychopathic serial killer, and his look was apt for the character. With ear-length hair, parted in the middle, Prosenjit channelled the famous Tere Naam style of Salman Khan. But unlike Salman, in that film, the white streaks running through the hair and the messy appearerence gave the character a real edge. He wasn't a good looking serial killer like Dexter, but he definitely gave us a Bong serial killer worth drooling over.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Prosenjit took at shot at Bollywood with Dibakar Bannerjee's ensemble drama Shanghai. Even though the film was critically acclaimed, it didn't do very well at the box office. But that did not stop Prosenjit from rocking his older man look. White beard, cropped unkempt hair and a disorganized look made for an inspiring social activist, Dr Ahmadi.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Tan wavy hair and a bold stache, Prosenjit as Kakababu was the Bengali kid's ultimate superhero coming alive on the big screen. Srijit Mukherjee again left no stones unturned while experimenting with Prosenjit's look for Mishawr Rawhashya. With a pair of black-rimmed specs and a cane in his hand, Prosenjit scorched the deserts of Egypt.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Prosebnjit's look in Jaatishwar was hugely appreciated. His golden shoulder-length curly locks reflecting light like a prism and a full beard suited his firangi character perfectly. Jaatisjwar won acclaims on national level and Vikram Gaikwad won the National Award for makeup while Rupankar won the national award for best song for the song E tumi kemon tumi, along with the National Awards for Best Costume Design (Shaborni Das, Best Music Direction (Songs) (Kabir Suman).

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

Force is the story of a father and son's relationship in which Prosenjit plays a cop. Needless to say, the crew-cut that we see him sporting these days is an attempt to get into the skin of a policeman's role. With a subtle growth on his face and a close-crop haircut, the look suits the character perfectly. We think, this is one of Prosenjit's most intense looks.

Prosenjit's transformation over the years

In his latest look, Bumba da sports his walrus stache the way it is supposed to be — like a boss. Dark, bushy and bold. His hair is gelled with a slight hint of a side parting. The glasses have stayed on, but the stubble gone. Do we like this look? Oh yeah, you bet!
